As you and your student plan for summer, keep in mind that Baylor’s summer classes support their academic success, financial wellbeing and timely graduation. Whether your student is looking to get ahead, catch up, or explore new interests, summer school at Baylor can be a smart and strategic investment.
“Many of my summer students are majoring in other disciplines and use the summer as an opportunity to tackle some of the courses from the core curriculum,” Dr. Joe Coker, senior lecturer of religion and director of the Humanities Fellows, said. “Other students are interested in picking up a minor while some may want to improve their GPA by retaking a class in an environment with fewer distractions.”
Nearly 30% of Baylor undergraduates take advantage of Summer of Discovery. With classes offered both in person and online, the flexible schedule options make it easy for students to embrace the typical summer activities while also enhancing their education and cultivating deeper connections with other students.
“I love the pace of teaching The Christian Heritage course in the summer. There’s something about the smaller class size that allows us to really dig into the material in a meaningful and more personal way,” Coker said.
Registration for summer classes is currently open to all current students. Incoming first-year and transfer students also will complete academic advising and can begin to register for Summer and Fall 2025 courses in May. This timeline means Summer of Discovery students who are entering Baylor this fall have the added benefit of selecting their fall schedules a few weeks ahead of other incoming students.
Summer of Discovery courses are available across multiple summer sessions and summer tuition is lower than spring and fall. Current students may choose to attend as many of the summer sessions as they’d like. Incoming students may select courses in Summer 1 and Summer 2 sessions. Summer Semester dates for 2025 include:
• May Minimester (May 19-June 5)
• Summer 1 (June 9-July 12
• Summer 2 (July 14-Aug. 14)
